Project Scope

The project scope includes restoration of an existing building and development of new extension to establish a village basic health care unit providing Labor room, emergency room, men’s waiting room, men’s doctors room, ladies waiting room, ladies doctors room, courtyard, toilets, store, and parking bay for emergency vehicles. The project will also assist in building a trust for generating running expenses for the facility.

 

Background

Village Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, named after the famous educationist, and former Minister of Education Pakistan “Ghulam Mustafa Shah,” is a small village located 100 kms southwest of historic city of Thatta in Sindh. Village population is currently around 5000 people, with close to 1000 households spread around a 30 km radius. Village folks are mainly associated with farm labor and only a small percentage represent local small business owners, merchants, teachers, and government service employees. The village offers today a single girls school facility, a boys school facility, and no basic healthcare unit. Both schools run under state government basic education program with a extremely small budget. The conditions at these facilities are neither safe nor adequately equipped for basic educational needs of the village children. The closest heath care facility for the villagers is 50 km away where due to large volume of patients villagers are often discouraged to reach. The literacy rate in the among men is little over 40% and women hardles around 25%. Serious shortage of basic infrastructure including adequate supply of clean water, electricity, and communication mediums, but the villages well behind the path of the progress of the country.

Project Impacts

The project where provides a readily accessible basic heath care facility for the villagers at a nominal fee, it also creates a ray of hope and encouragement that the local and international partnerships can bring about a positive changes in the life of the village.
